Hello readers, and welcome back! It’s your Marketing girl Hương Giang here, nature lover and your guide through all things Next Continent.
In this blog post, I’ll be taking you along on our Wild Hoi An 1-Day Birding Tour, led by the charming and wonderfully attentive guide, Thành Phan.
It was a wonderful opportunity for me to get out in the field, soak up some wildlife knowledge, and learn the ropes of birding from one of Next Continent’s finest.
Today’s guests were a very special duo: Alex and his mum, a mother and son team brought together by a shared love of birding. True birders, both of them!

Growing up, I had heard so much about kingfishers and woodpeckers, but had never actually seen one in real life. Today that all changed. I added a whole list of lifers to my eBird account, including the Freckle-breasted Woodpecker, White-throated Kingfisher, Pied Kingfisher, Common Kingfisher, and Coppersmith Barbet and more!
But the real highlight? Watching a Coppersmith Barbet feeding its chicks right at the nest hole. One of those moments you just do not forget.

No birding day in Hoi An would be complete without the bonus highlight of this tour: the best Cao Lầu in Vietnam. And yes, we really mean that.
Sharing a meal with locals, swapping stories over a bowl of something truly delicious, that is the kind of simplicity we love bringing to our guests. (No fuss, just real moments!)

As the morning wrapped up, we were already on the move again, chasing down targets from the rice fields all the way out to Cửa Đại Beach and finishing at Marble Mountain.
And somewhere along the way, I picked up more than just lifers. Plenty of honest advice about work, life, and staying positive, reminders to love what you do and love who you are. Lucky for me, I already do the work I love. What more could I ask for?
Ready to add your own lifers in Vietnam! Book your Hoi An Birding Tour with Next Continent and join a full wildlife birding experience, with endemic species, expert guides, and moments you will not forget in a hurry.
