This flexible tour is perfect for families, nature lovers, photographers and curious travellers wanting a unique outdoor experience that blends wildlife, landscapes, and natural history.
Half-Day Adventure:
Your day begins with a comfortable pick-up from your hotel, delicious Vietnamese breakfast, and a drive into the peaceful morning forest. Led by our expert team of wildlife & nature guides you’ll head up Monkey Pass, a winding road through vine-covered jungle and mountain slopes. Along the way, we’ll stop to look for animals and soak in panoramic views of the world-renowned Da Nang Bay and the distant peaks of Hai Van Pass.
Keep your eyes peeled for one of the world’s rarest and most colourful primates, the Red-shanked Douc Langur, as well as a variety of tropical birds, butterflies, lizards, plants and other hidden forest life. We’ll take short walks along quiet forest trails, ideal for wildlife spotting without strenuous hiking. Throughout the morning, your guide will share fascinating insights into Son Tra’s animals, plants, and cultural legends.
After a relaxed morning of exploring, we’ll return you to your accommodation around midday.
Full-Day Experience:
Extend your journey with our full-day option, which includes everything in the Half-Day tour plus a delicious Vietnamese lunch at one of our partner eco-restaurants, far from the tourist crowds.
In the afternoon, we’ll continue around the peninsula along scenic coastal roads, stopping to observe Rhesus Macaque in the coastal jungle and explore lesser-known viewpoints. The final highlight is a walk beneath the Cây Đa Ngàn Năm, the awe-inspiring Thousand-Year Banyan Tree, with its enormous roots and towering canopy, one of the region’s most impressive natural landmarks. We’ll finish the day with sweeping views of the sea and forest as the sun begins to set, before heading back to your accommodation.
Wildlife & Natural History Highlights
Son Tra Nature Reserve is home to an extraordinary diversity of wildlife, including many species found only in central Vietnam or eastern Indochina. The peninsula supports over 1,200 species of plants, 200 species of birds, 25 amphibians, 40 reptiles, 180 butterflies and moths, and countless fish, gastropods, spiders, beetles, and other insects.
On our day tours, we aim to showcase as many key species as possible, highlighting major target species such as the Red-shanked Douc Langur, Rhesus Macaque, and a variety of notable birds, butterflies, and diurnal reptiles. For more dedicated wildlife watchers, we recommend exploring our specialist tours, which are tailored to target rarer or more elusive species.
