Based in Northern Vietnam

Khải Đặng

Khải Đặng is a passionate wildlife guide and naturalist based in Hà Nội, specialising in herpetology, birding, and invertebrate identification. Currently studying Biology, Khải combines his academic interests with extensive field experience and an impressive knowledge of Vietnam’s remarkable biodiversity.

With a particular passion for snakes, Khải has helped design and lead many of Next Continent’s specialist herping tours around Hà Nội, including expeditions focused on locating and observing wild cobras. His enthusiasm for exploration extends well beyond reptiles, with a keen interest in birds, insects, and freshwater crustaceans. A meticulous observer with a strong interest in taxonomy and identification, he has also contributed valuable field observations and data to scientific research, particularly relating to snake identification.

Beyond guiding, Khải is an enthusiastic contributor to eBird and iNaturalist, where he documents his discoveries and pursues a particular fascination with decapod crustaceans and freshwater Malacostraca across Indochina. Endlessly curious and dedicated to expanding his knowledge, he dreams of one day documenting a bird species never previously recorded in Vietnam. His enthusiasm for discovery, scientific curiosity, and commitment to fieldwork make him a valued member of the Next Continent team.
