Meet Our Guide: Chu Đức Huy

Meet Our Guide: Huy Chu

If you’ve ever joined the Son Tra Community Walk, chances are you’ve met this familiar face! Huy is one of our amazing guides, specialising in cultural tours and as the principal guide for our Son Tra Community Walk experiences.

Huy is everything you’d want in a guide—humble, kind, meticulous, and always eager to learn. His approach to guiding is gentle and respectful, making every tour feel like a conversation with an old friend. If you’ve ever been on a tour with him, you know it’s impossible not to be won over by his enthusiasm and passion!

Born and raised in the beautiful coastal city of Da Nang, Huy has always been passionate about sharing the best travel experiences with visitors from around the world. His journey into tourism started when he enrolled in the Faculty of Tourism at Da Nang University of Economics, driven by a love for adventure and cultural exchange.

As a student, he worked hard to save money for his own travels, exploring Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos, and nearly every province in Vietnam. These experiences shaped his perspective and fueled his dream of becoming a tour guide. He started small, offering free motorbike tours, but those early days helped him develop the skills that make him the dedicated, professional, and hospitable guide he is today.

For Huy, guiding isn’t just about showing people places. It’s about sharing stories, making connections, and creating unforgettable experiences. His philosophy is to keep learning, keep innovating, and you’ll always stay passionate and happy. One of the moments that stuck with Huy the most was guiding an elderly couple from Hawaii on a three-day tour through Hue, Da Nang, and Hoi An. At the end of their trip, they handed him a handwritten letter that read “Thank you for making our trip to Vietnam so unforgettable. Just come to Hawaii—we’ll host you and be your tour guides, of course, for free! This letter is proof in case we forget! Haha.” What he thought was just a polite offer turned out to be a genuine invitation, reminding him of the incredible connections travel can create.

Huy, we can’t thank you enough for your hard work, dedication, and the warmth you bring to every tour. It’s been an absolute pleasure having you on our team, and we’re so grateful for everything you do! We wish you many more adventures, new friendships, and countless amazing experiences ahead. Here’s to more unforgettable journeys together!

What a Year of Watching Animals Taught Me About Storytelling

As you may have read in my earlier post, before joining Next Continent, birds were nothing but literary metaphors and the word “douc” wasn’t even in my dictionary. As a self-proclaimed human-obsessor with a background in rights advocacy, I never expected myself to
