Summary:
Our Cat Tien Wildlife Bike Safari offers a relaxed yet rewarding way to explore some of the park’s most diverse and wildlife-rich habitats. Starting from the park headquarters, this guided 4-hour experience follows a quiet out-and-back trail through grasslands, wetlands, and evergreen rainforest. Whether you join us for the popular dawn departure at 6:30 AM or the afternoon session at 2:30 PM, this gentle cycling adventure is the best way to experience the biodiversity and wonder of Vietnam’s premier national park.
Led by one of our expert wildlife guides, the tour unfolds at a pace that allows you to truly immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of the forest. The route is flat and accessible, covering approximately 6–8 km return, with stops tailored to seasonal highlights and wildlife activity. Key target species include Green Peafowl, Clouded Monitor, Chinese Francolin, Oriental Pied Hornbill, Red Muntjac, Javan Mongoose, Blue-beared Bee-eater, as well as the mighty Gaur, the world’s largest wild cattle species.
Along the way, we visit elevated watchtowers for sweeping views across the floodplain and pause beside hidden wetlands filled with birdlife, butterflies, dragonflies and frogs. On our way through the forest, keep your eyes out for several species of woodpecker, barbet, drongo as well as the spectacular Siamese Fireback. Our route varies slightly depending on sightings and activity, making every outing a little different.
Bike hire and bottled water are included, and the tour begins and ends at the park headquarters. While there are no age restrictions, participants should be confident riding a bike and comfortable covering several kilometres at a steady pace. This experience is ideal for nature lovers, wildlife watchers, birders, and curious travellers of all backgrounds, including families with older children (generally 8+).
Whether you’re hoping for close encounters with wildlife, time in a beautiful natural setting, or simply a fresh way to explore the park, this easygoing safari by bike delivers a unique and memorable way to enjoy Cat Tien.

Featured Wildlife Highlights
Cat Tien is one of Vietnam’s premier national parks and a top destination for wildlife watching. The grasslands and southeast forested corner of the park is especially rich in biodiversity, home to over 300~ recorded bird species, more than 80 species of mammals, and an astonishing array of reptiles, butterflies, insects, and plants. With such diversity, it’s almost impossible to summarise even the top 50 species you might encounter.
On a typical morning bike ride, we often observe between 40–60 bird species, along with numerous mammals, reptiles, and other invertebrates. In the above summary, we have mentioned many of the key targets, but for a deeper look at the park’s recorded biodiversity, we encourage you to explore sightings from this area on eBird and iNaturalist.

Group Size
All our bike safaris are private tours, available for individuals, couples, families, and groups of any size. For the best wildlife viewing experience, we recommend groups of no more than 5 people. Larger groups are always welcome, and for groups of 6–7 or more, we suggest splitting into two smaller sub-groups with separate guides and slightly varied routes to maximise sightings and minimise disturbance to wildlife.
Photography Opportunites & Notes
Like all of our Cat Tien experiences, this tour offers excellent opportunities for nature and wildlife photograph, particularly at key stops such as watchtowers, wetlands and open the grasslands. However, since we travel by bike, photography is generally limited to these designated stops rather than during movement. Quick, unpredictable sightings (such as a pheasant darting across the trail or deer grazing at a distance) can be harder to capture, especially when camera gear is stowed. For those focused specifically on wildlife photography, we recommend our Explore Cát Tiên: Nocturnal Safari, which allows more time and flexibility for setting up shots.
