The cool, misty weather favored mammal activity, particularly the endangered Red-shanked Douc Langur. Recent heavy rains had raised concerns of possible landslides, but Son Tra Management Board had promptly blocked off high-risk areas to ensure visitor safety, reopening routes only after careful assessment.<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Wildlife Highlights:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Mammals<\/span>: Red-shanked Douc Langur, Rhesus Macaque.<\/span><\/i><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Birds<\/span>: Chinese Pond-Heron, White-throated Kingfisher, Verditer Flycatcher, Daurian Redstart, Blue Rock-Thrush, Ornate Sunbird, Gray Wagtail, Green-billed Malkoha, \u00a0Racket-tailed Treepie, Stripe-throated Bulbul, Indochinese Blue Flycatcher, Rufous-tailed Robin and Taiga Flycatcher.<\/span><\/i><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Insects<\/span>: Great Mormon Swallowtail (Papilio memnon), Crisp-banded Hummingbird Hawkmoth (Macroglossum sitiene).<\/span><\/i><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Weather Conditions: <i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Light drizzling rain throughout the morning with occasional clear gaps; cool and humid.<\/span><\/i><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Detailed Tour Report:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Son Tra Peninsula is a mosaic of evergreen forest, fruiting fig trees, flowering shrubs, low scrublands, and freshwater streams. These varied habitats remained vibrant despite the weather, and wildlife appeared active from the moment we began our walk.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Rhesus Macaque<\/strong> were the first to greet us with several individuals moving confidently across the roadside vegetation and interacting in the lower branches. We also watched some beautiful interactions with a mother play and cuddling up with her baby. Bird activity was equally lively. We first encountered a<\/span><b> White-throated Kingfisher<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> perched prominently on a bridge near a stream, followed by a female <\/span><b>Verditer Flycatche<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">r perching quietly on the electric wires. Nearby, <\/span><b>Stripe-throated Bulbul <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">moved through the mid-storey, while a <\/span><b>Pin-striped Tit-babbler<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> fed actively in the understory.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-28850 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/nextcontinenttours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1053\" height=\"750\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nextcontinenttours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/3.jpg 1053w, https:\/\/nextcontinenttours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/3-300x214.jpg 300w, https:\/\/nextcontinenttours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/3-1024x729.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/nextcontinenttours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/3-768x547.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1053px) 100vw, 1053px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While our driver pointed out an <\/span><b>Ornate Sunbird<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and<\/span><b> Asian Brown Flycatcher<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, our guide located what would become the highlight of the morning, a large troop of approximately ten <\/span><b>Red-shanked Douc Langur <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">feeding on tender leaves of a fig tree not far from the road. The troop included adults and juveniles, all displaying their iconic maroon legs, golden faces, and contrasting black forelimbs. Although the rain made photography challenging, we assisted Andrew and his friend in finding better vantage points while ensuring we kept a respectful distance so the langurs remained undisturbed.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After around an hour and a half of observing the troop, we continued on our way exploring the peninsula. The drizzle eased and Son Tra revealed beautiful views &#8211; mist rising from the forest canopy, Da Nang City shimmering below, and the coastline glowing soft grey under the shifting sky.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Descending toward the East side of the slope, we encountered a second troop of five <\/span><b>Red-shanked Douc Langur<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, this time feeding on the foliage of an Elephant Creeper (Argyreia nervosa). We were all amazed by the scene: the langurs calmly eating leaves with the skyline of Da Nang behind them. It was a glimpse into what responsible conservation can achieve. It was a scene of harmony, forest and city breathing together!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-28852 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/nextcontinenttours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1308\" height=\"846\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nextcontinenttours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/2.jpg 1308w, https:\/\/nextcontinenttours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/2-300x194.jpg 300w, https:\/\/nextcontinenttours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/2-1024x662.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/nextcontinenttours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/2-768x497.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1308px) 100vw, 1308px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>Chinese Pond Heron<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0were especially abundant throughout this section. Several individuals stood motionless on the roadside, causing us to slow the vehicle multiple times as they stared directly into the oncoming car before fluttering away at the last second.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Late in the morning, the rain paused long enough for us to explore Linh \u1ee8ng Pagoda. Here, we shared insights into Vietnamese Buddhism, the origins of the pagoda, and the symbolic importance of the Lady Buddha statue overlooking Da Nang Bay.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Birdlife was surprisingly active within the area. We recorded <\/span><b>Indochinese Blue Flycatcher<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0(two males and one female), a <\/span><b>Rufous-tailed Robin<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> hopping quietly along shaded paths while constantly flickering its tail up and down, a single <\/span><b>Taiga Flycatcher<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a <\/span><b>Blue Rock Thrush<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> perched secretly on a tree and two <\/span><b>Racket-tailed Treepie<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0gliding through the tall trees. <\/span><b>Ornate Sunbird<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0echoed through the courtyard while a <\/span><b>Green-billed Malkoha<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> slipped through dense foliage. Andrew and his friend expressed their delight at having chosen to explore Son Tra instead of staying indoors. They experienced multiple langur encounters, an abundance of birdlife, striking views, and a close look at the peninsula\u2019s rich biodiversity. The cool mist, the lush wet forest, and the presence of endangered wildlife created a memorable half-day adventure on Son Tra Peninsula.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If this
